Export of Goods worth 58.6 Billion Euros
In May 2024, German exports to countries outside the European Union decreased by 6.4 percent compared to April 2024, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). Goods worth 58.6 billion euros were exported there last month.
Compared to the same month last year, May 2023, exports to third countries fell by 4.9 percent.
USA as the most important trading partner
According to Destatis, the most important trading partner for German exporters is the United States. Goods worth a total of 13.0 billion euros were exported there. Exports to the US increased by 7.5 billion euros compared to the previous year.
Exports to China decreased by 14.0 percent, totaling 7.5 billion euros. Exports to the United Kingdom fell by 1.7 percent compared to May 2023, decreasing to 6.3 billion euros.
Exports to Russia declined
Germany now exports goods worth only 0.5 billion euros to Russia, a decrease of 24.9 percent, according to Destatis.
Currently, Russia ranks 19th among the most important destination countries for German exports outside the EU. Before the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Russia ranked 5th.
