Integrated Supply Chain Solution for Industry
The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has won one of the prestigious Supply Chain Excellence Awards (SCEA). The rail logistics company received the award jointly with Transporeon, a transport management platform, in the category “The Digital Transformation Award.”
According to RCG’s press release, the two companies collaborated on a project that created a seamless integration of multimodal transportation into a single platform. This innovation is described by RCG as unparalleled across Europe.
The SCEA ceremony took place on October 28, 2024, in London. Representatives from both companies were present to accept the award, according to RCG.
Second Award in 2024 for Collaboration
This is the second recognition for the collaboration between ÖBB Rail Cargo Group and Transporeon this year. In June, the two partners received the Austrian Logistics Award for their joint efforts.
Logistics Award
The Supply Chain Excellence Awards are presented annually, according to RCG. These awards honor companies that excel in innovation and efficiency within their supply chains. Winners are recognized as industry pioneers setting new benchmarks while advancing sustainable, agile, and resilient supply chains.
Data-Driven Multimodal Transport
RCG highlights that shifting transportation to alternative modes of transit is more urgent than ever in light of European climate goals. This urgency is further underscored by recent extreme weather events, the logistics provider states.
A significant modal shift, according to Clemens Först, RCG’s CEO, is only possible if switching from road to rail becomes simple for customers. This is precisely where the RCG and Transporeon project comes into play.
The project is described as an integrated supply chain solution tailored for the industrial sector. Such solutions, according to the rail logistics company, are increasingly in demand from the industry.
