Also, more young people were interested in the job of a truck driver. This was evident from the survey conducted by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (German shortcut BIBB).<\/p>\n<p>According to the results, last year 6,192 people signed an apprenticeship contract as a merchant for forwarding and logistics services. This is an increase of 7 percent compared to the previous year, in which only 5,760 contracts were signed.<\/p>\n<p>The number of applicants for a specialist position in warehouse logistics also rose: While 10,545 training contracts were signed in 2017, 11,028 young people were interested in this career path in 2018.<\/p>\n<h3>Truck industry could be relieved<\/h3>\n<p>The truck industry can breathe a sigh of relief: by September 2018, 9.4 percent more than in 2017 were interested in a job as a truck driver. By September 2018, 3,951 training contracts had been concluded.<\/p>\n<p>The moving and removal companies sector continues to grow: with 576 contracts signed, 4.4 percent more people were interested in training in this sector than in the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 531,414 training contracts were registered across all sectors in Germany &#8211; an increase of 1.6 percent compared with 2017.
