Deutsche Telekom has published a digitization index that shows how well companies and individual industries are implementing digitization. In this context, the logistics sector performed above average. The transport, traffic and logistics sector achieved 61 out of a total of 100 index points. With this, the industry is six points above the overall economic average and is considered a pioneer. The top ten percent of logistics companies even achieved an index of 91 points.<\/p>\n
According to the study, the logistics industry has consistently implemented the opportunities of digital transformation. Logistics companies are increasingly using digital solutions: Forwarding companies use machine-to-machine solutions to track their transport goods, logistics companies are increasingly using intelligent sensors or mobile terminals for their data or forecasting tools. Digital pilot projects such as delivery robots or autonomous trucks are also on the increase.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, more than a third of the participating logistics companies have already experienced digital added value in the company. This means that the benefits of digital transformation outweigh its costs. As a result, logistics companies are generally more satisfied with their business indicators, such as turnover and profit. Every second company stated that it was making its managers and selected employees fit for digitization. For more than half of the participants, digitization is already an integral part of their business strategy.<\/p>\n
The Digitalization Index for SMEs 2018 has now been compiled for the third time in a row by techconsult and Deutsche Telekom. In the summer of 2018, around 2,500 small to medium-sized companies from various industries were surveyed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
