ZF Friedrichshafen AG considers itself well prepared for the future. The automotive supplier makes this clear in a current press release entitled “ZF in the fast lane for intelligent, clean and safe commercial vehicle technology.”
\nThe company is well aware of the major tasks facing the commercial vehicle industry. Three of them are especially emphasized by ZF: Reducing CO2 emissions, increasing safety, and digital networking of fleets.<\/p>\n
For example, the company points out that in the EU, manufacturers must reduce the CO2 fleet emissions of new commercial vehicles by 15 percent by 2025. By 2030, CO2 emissions are to be reduced by as much as 30 percent. Moreover, the EU will make the use of new driver assistance systems mandatory from 2022 on, as ZF notes.<\/p>\n
ZF Friedrichshafen AG offers solutions for driveline, chassis, and safety technology, both for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. In the 2019 business year, the company achieved sales of approximately EUR 36.5 billion. The number of employees is approximately 148,000.<\/p>\n
At the end of May, ZF took over Wabco, a company specializing in braking systems. This enables the automotive supplier to accompany its customers in the transformation of mobility. According to the company, the product and system portfolio for intelligent commercial vehicles is comprehensive and unique.<\/p>\n
Fredrik Staedtler, head of the new Commercial Vehicle Control Systems Division, explains that Wabco has enabled ZF to expand its worldwide leading position as a future-oriented full-range supplier for the commercial vehicle industry. He continues: “With the clear goal of making mobility and transportation cleaner, safer and more efficient, we are mobilizing commercial vehicle intelligence to support our customers worldwide.”<\/p>\n
One of the new products is a docking assistant. It enables trucks to drive fully automatically under the trailer and also dock automatically.<\/p>\n
The automotive supplier also refers to the so-called Advanced Reversing Assist in its press release. This is a further development of a reversing assistant.<\/p>\n
ZF is also currently in the process of expanding its expertise in digitalization and vehicle connectivity. The company is convinced that this will help to optimize logistics processes.<\/p>\n
